The logistics of a private villa wedding

A villa gives you an empty, private, beautiful site. Everything that makes it function as a wedding venue arrives on a truck.

Power

Catering equipment, lighting, sound and a bar draw far more power than a residential villa is wired for. Many villa weddings need a generator, and a generator needs a position far enough from dinner to be inaudible and a fuel plan for the evening.

Kitchen

A villa kitchen is built for a household. Caterers build a temporary back-of-house area with prep tables, refrigeration, gas and wash-up. This area needs a real location in the site plan, ideally with vehicle access and out of guest sightlines.

Furniture, tableware and lighting

  • Ceremony seating, dining tables, chairs, linen, glassware, crockery and cutlery are all hired per item.
  • A dance floor is required on most surfaces; gravel and lawn are unusable without one.
  • Festoon and uplighting are what make a villa look designed after dark. This is the item couples most often underestimate.

Access and curfews

Headland villas sit on steep, narrow roads. Truck size is limited, load-in takes longer, and guest transport has to be arranged in minibuses rather than left to individual taxis.

Noise curfews are set by the property and enforced by neighbours. Confirm the curfew before you book a band, and plan the end of the night around it rather than hoping.

Staffing

Resort weddings borrow the hotel's staff. Villa weddings hire them. Service ratios, a bar team, security where required and a clean-down crew are all part of the quote.
