Concentrate, don't scatter
Phuket is larger than most visitors expect, and moving across the island in the evening can take an hour. Guests spread between three beaches will meet only at the wedding itself.
The usual approach is a single base area with two or three price levels within it, so that guests can choose their own budget without leaving the group.
Room blocks
- Resorts will often hold a block of rooms at an agreed rate against a release date.
- Blocks usually carry a deadline; guests who book late pay public rates.
- Guests generally prefer to pay their own accommodation directly, which keeps the couple out of the middle.
Villas for family
Where a wedding is held at a villa, close family often stay in the property. This works well socially but means the villa is occupied during set-up, which needs planning around.
Transport
Assume you are arranging transport to and from the wedding. Minibuses for the group, and a plan for the end of the night, avoid a queue of guests trying to find taxis on a dark headland road.
