Ceremony styles

The ways couples marry in Phuket

Ceremony format decides almost everything downstream: which venues are possible, how long the day runs, what it costs and how much of your plan needs a second version for rain.

Resort beachfronts

Beach weddings

A ceremony set on sand, usually late afternoon, followed by drinks and dinner nearby. The setting is the design; almost everything else is about timing, tide and shade.

Two people to around 60 seated guests, depending on the beach and the property it belongs to.

Elopements

Just the two of you, a celebrant and a photographer. Short to plan, but the choices matter more, because nothing is hidden behind scale.

Two people, occasionally with two witnesses.

Vow renewals

No legal process, no paperwork. A renewal is entirely a ceremony of your own design, which usually makes it shorter to plan and more personal to write.

Two to around 40 people, often family only.

Usually 10–60 people. The blessing line takes time, so larger groups extend the ceremony considerably.

You rent an empty property and build a wedding inside it. Complete privacy and full design control, with more supplier coordination than a resort wedding.

Resort weddings

The property supplies the infrastructure — kitchens, furniture, staff, power, wet-weather space. You gain reliability and lose some design freedom.

Combining ceremony styles

Many weddings here are two ceremonies rather than one — most often a Thai blessing in the morning and a Western ceremony before sunset. It works, but it makes for a long day and it changes the hair, makeup, guest and photography plans.
