Choosing when to marry in Phuket

Phuket has a dry season and a monsoon season. Both host weddings. What changes is the weather risk you carry and how much your plan needs a second option.

Phuket Wedding Seasons and Timing — Phuket

The two seasons

Phuket's dry season runs roughly from November to April, with the driest and most settled conditions between December and March. The southwest monsoon runs roughly from May to October, with September and October historically the wettest months.

These are patterns, not guarantees. A dry-season afternoon can produce a short heavy shower, and a green-season week can be entirely clear.

What each season means in practice

  • High season (December–March): the most reliable weather, the highest venue and accommodation rates, and the earliest booking pressure.
  • Shoulder (April, November): warm, generally workable, better availability. April is the hottest month.
  • Green season (May–October): lower rates, greener landscape, more dramatic skies, and a genuine need for a covered alternative.

Sunset governs the day

Ceremony times in Phuket are set backwards from sunset, which moves through the year between roughly 18:10 and 18:50. A beach or terrace ceremony is usually placed 75 to 90 minutes before sunset so that the ceremony, group photographs and couple portraits all fall inside good light.

This is not a stylistic preference. It is the difference between photography in warm light and photography under a flash.

Sea conditions

During the monsoon the west coast surf is louder and stronger, which affects both swimming safety and ceremony audio. The east coast is more sheltered. If you plan boat transfers or an island element, season affects whether that is realistic.
